Summits on the Air – M0JCQ

Congratulations to James Stevens M0JCQ for achieving the Summits on the Air (SOTA) Mountain Goat status.

James finally achieved this remarkable feat on 23th September during a trip to the Lake District, on the summit of a rather wet Skiddaw (931m ASL).

It took James a total of 5 years, 243 SOTA activations, 143 unique summits and 3,504 QSOs.

James says thanks to all the chasers and to his patient wife Christina, M7CID, who he says deserves half the trophy!SOTA trophy

The trophy itself, an elegant glass affair with a cragginess that reflects the summits that SOTA enthusiasts tackle with apparent ease (for us armchair followers).  Meanwhile the photo of a very wet-looking James reflects the reality of this combination of endurance and amateur radio.

James also appeared recently in the RSGB “Tonight @8” series of webinars talking about SOTA.  The series can still be viewed on YouTube, or via the RSGB website.
